How much do they pay?

One of our readers is considering a relocation, state to state, and is wondering if there’s any place to learn online what different institutions pay adjuncts. I recognize from my own experience that compensation can vary widely within a region.

Public schools make their compensation a matter of record–is there a website that aggregates this data in one place?

Okay, here goes:

Currently, I teach at two schools, both in the New Jersey, New York area.

SUNY Rockland $ 660 per credit hour

Passaic County Community College $520 per credit hour

A big difference.

Here’s what Jennifer, one of readers noted:

I am paid only $2,800 per course at a small private college in Vermont, and have heard that adjuncts at the U of Idaho are paid $5,000. Quite a difference!
